Lawyer for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Frank Davies, has stated that his client will strongly contest any attempt by Ghanaian authorities to extradite him from the United States back to Ghana.
According to Davies, the former minister is prepared to challenge any legal proceedings that may be initiated to bring him back to Ghana through extradition.
His comments come amid reports that Ghanaian authorities are exploring legal avenues to secure Ofori-Atta’s return in connection with investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
The investigations are linked to allegations of financial misconduct during Ofori-Atta’s tenure as Finance Minister. However, his legal team maintains that he will defend himself through the appropriate legal processes.
Davies emphasized that if an extradition request is formally filed, the former finance minister will vigorously oppose it through the courts in the United States.
