The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service says investigations into the activities of TikTok personality Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof,” have uncovered alleged financial links between her and individuals suspected of sponsoring her online activities.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Friday, September 18, 2026, the CID Director-General, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, said investigators had established that some persons had consistently provided financial support for the activities associated with the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account.
According to COP Donkor, forensic analysis of mobile phones, audio and video files, as well as mobile money transaction records, revealed financial transactions involving persons connected to the activities under investigation.
She said Barbara Asantewaa Kodua had been identified as the person behind the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account and had subsequently been declared wanted by the Police.
COP Donkor further disclosed that investigations had linked Salomey Awiti Bafoh, a nurse based in Techiman, to the circulation of content produced by Barbara Asantewaa Kodua.
The CID boss said investigations revealed that Salomey allegedly recruited other individuals to redistribute videos associated with the “Ghana Jollof” account across social media platforms.
She added that Barbara Asantewaa Kodua had allegedly received money through Salomey, while some individuals described by the Police as highly influential persons had also transferred significant amounts of money to Salomey.
According to the CID, portions of the funds were allegedly shared with other persons connected to the online activities.
COP Donkor said the Police had identified some of the persons allegedly sponsoring the activities and that evidence gathered through the investigations would be presented before the court.
Salomey Awiti Bafoh was arrested on September 17, 2026, and subsequently put before the court in connection with the alleged publication and circulation of false news. She pleaded not guilty and was remanded to assist with investigations.
She is expected to reappear before the court on September 30, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Police have declared Barbara Asantewaa Kodua wanted and appealed to members of the public who may have information about her whereabouts to assist the Police.
The CID says investigations into the matter are continuing.
