Energy Minister Inspects Akosombo Substation After Fire Disrupts Power Supply

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, on Monday night paid a visit to the Akosombo Substation to assess ongoing restoration efforts following a recent fire outbreak.

The incident, which severely damaged the facility’s control room, led to the loss of over 1,000 megawatts from the national grid, causing significant power disruptions across parts of the country.

During his visit, Hon. Jinapor interacted with engineers and technical teams on site, receiving updates on the progress of repair works and measures being implemented to restore stability to the power supply.

The Ministry has assured the public of its commitment to restoring full power and strengthening infrastructure to prevent future occurrences.
