Deputy Minister for Education Commends WAEC Award Winners, Urges Integrity and Discipline

The Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Abass Apaak, has praised outstanding students who excelled in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, encouraging them to remain disciplined and uphold integrity as they pursue their future goals.
Dr. Apaak delivered the keynote address on behalf of the Minister for Education during the Distinction Awards Ceremony organized by the West African Examinations Council. The event took place at the Sakyi Asare-Menako Hall in Accra.

In his address, the Deputy Minister congratulated the awardees for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to academic excellence. He noted that their achievements reflected the countless hours of hard work they invested in their studies.

Dr. Apaak also acknowledged the critical role teachers played in guiding and mentoring the students to achieve such remarkable success, emphasizing that the accomplishments were a collective effort involving students, teachers, parents, and schools.

However, he raised concerns about the increasing cases of examination malpractice reported in some schools. According to him, such practices threaten the credibility and integrity of Ghana’s education system if not properly addressed.

He therefore called on all stakeholders within the education sector — including students, teachers, parents, and school authorities — to work together to protect the credibility of national examinations.
Dr. Apaak further assured that the Ministry of Education will continue to work closely with the West African Examinations Council to strengthen monitoring systems and uphold high academic standards across the country.

The WAEC Distinction Awards Ceremony recognizes exceptional candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic performance in the WASSCE, celebrating excellence and encouraging students across Ghana to strive for higher academic achievement.
