OSP launches probe into alleged vote-buying in NPP presidential and NDC Ayawaso East primaries

by | Feb 9, 2026

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has commenced investigations into alleged vote-buying connected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in Ayawaso East.

According to the OSP, the probe is aimed at establishing whether any form of inducement or financial influence was used to sway delegates or voters during the internal party elections.

The office says the investigations fall within its mandate to prevent and prosecute corruption and corruption-related offences, including actions that may undermine the integrity of Ghana’s electoral processes.

The development follows public claims and reports suggesting that money and other incentives may have been distributed to influence outcomes in the respective primaries.

The OSP has indicated that it will gather evidence, engage relevant individuals, and work with other state institutions where necessary to determine the facts.
No charges have been announced at this stage, as the investigations are ongoing.

The Special Prosecutor’s office says it will provide further updates as the process unfolds and has urged the public to cooperate with any lawful requests for information.
